Aliaksei Pikulik, the academic director of Vilnius-based Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies (BISS) and professor of the European University at St Petersburg, was detained in Minsk at 6 pm on 31 May. He is charged with disorderly conduct (Article 17.1 of the Code of Administrative Violations).

01.06.2012 Hrodna police detain journalists and beat picketers
Hrodna police conducted a mass detention of journalists on 1 June. Journalist Andrei Pachobut has been detained and is kept at the police station in Kurchatau Street. Yan Roman has been detained. His mobile phone is switched off. According to some information, he has been taken to the Leninski District Police Department in Hrodna.

Aleh Stakhayevich, the head of the independent trade union at the "Granite" enterprise in Mikashevichy, was trying to get reinstated at work. However, the panel of judges of the regional court upheld the earlier verdict of the Luninets District Court, according to which the dismissal of the activist was legal.
