Brest Region Court turns down Stakhayevich's appeal

Aleh Stakhayevich, the head of the independent trade union at the "Granite" enterprise in Mikashevichy, was trying to get reinstated at work. However, the panel of judges of the regional court upheld the earlier verdict of the Luninets District Court, according to which the dismissal of the activist was legal.

Though Mr. Stakhayevich stated that such a verdict was to be expected, he intends to continue appealing his dismissal from work. The members of the trade union, who came to Brest to support their colleague, consider this case as politically motivated.

Bear in mind that following the establishment of an independent trade union at "Granite" its administration decided to dismiss not only Aleh Stakhayevich, but also some other activists – Mikalai Karyshau, Henadz Paulouski and Liudmila Litvinka.
