The human rights situation in Belarus has deteriorated considerably after the presidential election of 2010. Human rights defenders registered a sharp increase in politically motivated repression and many cases of violation and restriction of fundamental rights and freedoms within the three post-election months.

In the evening of 14 March a police inspector phoned to the home phone of Ivan's father and told that he needed to bring Ivan to court. However, he was unable to explain the reasons. The policeman also asked about the whereabouts of Ivan's brother, Illia.
14.03.2011 Zmitser Dashkevich is threatened with a maximal sentence and black hole in the colony
An officer of the military counter-intelligence paid a visit to Zmitser Dashkevich, Chair of the Young Front, who is kept in the pre-trial prison in Valadarski Street in Minsk on charges of malignant hooliganism.
14.03.2011 Court dismisses appeal of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee
On 12 March the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus dismissed the appeal of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee against the warning that had been issued to the organization by the Ministry of Justice on 12 January, after the human rights defenders informed Gabriela Knaul, UN Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers about pressurization of the lawyers who defended figurants of the 19 December mass riot case.
11.03.2011 Mahiliou: KGB summons Young Front activist Valiantsin Labachou for interrogation
On 11 March a KGB officer who introduced himself as Andrei Ryhoravich (he didn't tell his surname) paid a visit to Valiantsin and handed him a writ for an interrogation. However, it is not specified within the frames of what case the activist was to be interrogated.
11.03.2011 Young Front activists Lobau and Dashkevich to be tried on 21 March
The trial of Dzmitry Dashkevich, Chair of the Young Front, and Eduard Lobau, his deputy, will take place on 21 March at the Maskouski District Court. They are charged with especially malignant hooliganism (Article 339, part 3 of the Criminal Code). The case will be considered by Judge Alena Shylko.
09.03.2011 Navahradak: Christian democrats are summonsed to KGB
The activists of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Yury Kazak and Uladzimir Kachahur received summons. KGB officers also wanted to hand writs to Daryia Bakhar (but she wasn’t at work at the time of their visit), and to Siarhei Vauchok (he wasn’t at home).
04.03.2011 Taisiya Kabanchuk interrogated at KGB for 7 hours
Taisiya Kabanchuk, a coordinator of the organizing committee to create the Belarusian Christian Democracy party in the Mahiliou region, was questioned in the Babruisk city KGB department for 7 hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on 2 March.

The Chair of the Young Front, Zmitser Dashkevich, and its activist Eduard Lobau were transferred to pre-trial prison #1 in Valadarski Street in Minsk.

01.03.2011 Mahiliou: Maksim Antsypovich fined 525,000 rubles for participation in unauthorized picket
On 1 March Iryna Saroka, judge of the Mahiliou Leninski District Court, considered the administrative case of Maksim Antsypovich, charged with participation in an unauthorized picket on 16 January, and fined him 525,000 rubles (about $175).

Seven activists of the United Civic Party of Belarus have been detained by the police in Minsk Kastrychnistkaya Square, reports the UCPB official web-site.

Last evening, Young Front deputy chair 20-year-old Ms. Nasta Palazhanka was released from the KGB pre-trial prison.
17.02.2011 Young Front Mahiliou activist questioned by KGB
On 16 February, Valiantsin Labachou, Mahiliou activist of the Young Front youth opposition movement was interrogated at local KGB department. The KGB officers inquired about the events of 19 December in Minsk.
