Young Front activists Lobau and Dashkevich to be tried on 21 March

The trial of Dzmitry Dashkevich, Chair of the Young Front, and Eduard Lobau, his deputy, will take place on 21 March at the Maskouski District Court. They are charged with especially malignant hooliganism (Article 339, part 3 of the Criminal Code). The case will be considered by Judge Alena Shylko.

Let us remind that according to the investigation on 18 December 2010 Dashkevich, Lazara and Lobau groundlessly and purposefully beat two passers-by with fists and metal tongs. On 28 December morning Dzianis Lazar was released from jail and all charges against him were dropped. The official charges to Dzmitry Dashkevich and Eduard Lobau were presented on 6 January.

During the investigation they were held at the Zhodzina pre-trial prison, but on 2 March were transferred to the pre-trial prison in Valadarski Street in Minsk. They face 3-10 years in jail. Human rights defenders consider this case as politically motivated.
