Salihorsk police are looking for Ivan Shyla
In the evening of 14 March a police inspector phoned
to the home phone of Ivan's father and told that he needed to bring Ivan to
court. However, he was unable to explain the reasons. The policeman also asked
about the whereabouts of Ivan's brother, Illia.
Ivan's parents state that the summons to court is connected to his detention on
27 July 2010 for organization of a contest of chalk drawings on the asphalt,
which is traditionally held by the Young Front every year to mark the
anniversary of the Independence Declaration.
On 24 August 2010 the Salihorsk District Court had fined two participants of
the 27 July action.
“We had to give written explanations during the summer detention. No violation
reports were composed. Then I went to Poland, to study at language courses.
There I learned about the fines to other participants of the action. I come to
Salihorsk from time to time, but I haven't received any writs or telephone
calls with requests to come somewhere. All terms for composing violation
reports and holding an administrative trial on the case are already over, but
the police are trying to find me in order to forcibly guard me to the court,”
explained Ivan Shyla.
