25.03.2008 Detentions in Brest
In the morning of March 25, Brest road police detained activists of the Movement For Freedom Kanstantsin Balahura and Dzianis Turcheniak. They were told, they had false license plates.
25.03.2008 Yury Istomin to be tried today
Yury Istomin will be taken to court today before noon. He was detained yesterday evening. Head of Hrodna regional organization of UCP Yury Istomin and activist Zmitser Bandarchuk were detained at Hrodna railway station.
25.03.2008 Picket in Vitebsk ended with detentions
Today Vitebsk activists organized a picket in the center of the city. The picket commemorated the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian Democratic Republic. Several activists held white and red balloons and umbrellas. Women unfolded embroidered towel with the symbols of BDR. In a couple of minutes after the beginning they were approached by policemen who detained Barys Khamaida, Vadzim Barshcheuski, Alena Zaleskaya, and Antanina Pivanos.

The trial over youth activist Katsiaryna Salauyova will start in Polatsak on March 27th, 3 p.m.
24.03.2008 Police detain artist Ales Marachkin
In Minsk police detained well-known artist Ales Marachkin. Marachkin, head of arts group “Pahonia”, was detained in his studio.
24.03.2008 Four Zhodzina activists arrested for 7 days
Today Zhodzina city court tried organizers of the mass action dedicated to the Freedom Day. Paval Krasouski, Yuras Zhylka, Aliaksandar Kamarouski, and Yury Silkin, accused of organization of an unauthorized action, were sentenced to 7 days in jail.
24.03.2008 Shablinski arrested for 3 days for distribution of printed materials
Youth activist Ivan Shablinski was sentenced to 3 days in jail for distribution of unregistered periodicals. He was detained yesterday evening in Minsk when he handed out newsletters to passers-by.
24.03.2008 Pastor fined for religious service
On March 6th in Zhodzina Valiantsin Luhouski, pastor of the Evangelical Church of St. Trinity was triad. He was fined 175, 000 BYR for violation of the Law “about Mass Event in the Republic of Belarus”.
24.03.2008 Aliaksei Lapitski in center of attention of undercover policemen
On March 21st, at 8.30 a.m. a stranger in black jacket knocked on the doors of Aliaksei Lapitski, human rights defender and member of BPF party in Zhodzina. The stranger said he was from police and wanted to talk to Mr. Lapitski.
22.03.2008 Orsha pro-dem office searched
According to Ales Shutau, BPF Orsha office head, a policeman and three persons in mufti searched the office and confiscated a number of issues of Arshanski vesnik and Tovarishch newspapers, as well as 500 greeting calendars designed for March 25.
22.03.2008 Homel students prohibited to celebrate Liberty Day
The administration of Homel State University warned its students that it would be ‘wrong’ to take part in the upcoming March 25 events in Minsk.
22.03.2008 March 25 action applicants threatened with jail
The politicians and civil activists that have applied for conducting a demonstration on March 25 were warned by Minsk authorities that in case of any disobedience to the police they would find themselves in prison.

Sentenced to 12 days of arrest democratic activist Zmitser Kaspyarovich was diagnosed with hypertensive crisis.
20.03.2008 Aliaksandr Kazulin denied commutation
Political prisoner Alyaksandr Kazulin was rejected the commutation the second time, Interfax learnt from Vitba-3 penal colony, where he is serving the term of punishment.
