March 25 action applicants threatened with jail

The politicians and civil activists that have applied for conducting a demonstration on March 25 were warned by Minsk authorities that in case of any disobedience to the police they would find themselves in prison.

According to UCPB leader Anatol Liabedzka, the route of the demonstration advised by the city authorities is totally unacceptable.
- It will ruin our plans. We are planning to visit the places and monuments that are important for our history. And we will not change our plans.
- Aliaksandr Naidzenka, vice-head of Minsk police, said the following: ‘I promise, no, I guarantee that you all will be at Akrestsin.’ I think it is a sheer provocation. In this connection we declared that from that time we were not official organizers of the action.
