04.04.2013 Restrictions on access of human rights defenders to foreign financing contribute to impunity
Paris-Geneva, 3 April 2013. In a recent annual report Observatory for the Protection of human rights defenders drew attention to the new negative trends affecting the effective work of human rights defenders. Restrictions on access to financing, particularly foreign, are increasingly used by governments, which tend to make defenders silenced.

The commission on affairs of under-aged of Maskouski District Executive Committee of Brest fined 18-year-old Uladzislau Barouski 50,000 rubles.
04.04.2013 Mazyr police continue discriminating Roma
It is quite interesting whether officers of Mazyr District Police Department have ever read the Constitution or have heard the expression "prohibition of adverse discrimination", including on the grounds of nationality. Probably they have not, as such articles as "Don't Surrender to Roma Tricks" keep appearing in the district state-owned newspaper "Zhyttsio Palessia".
04.04.2013 Human rights defenders issue a statement concerning the cracking of the website of Mahiliou "Viasna" branch
In the evening of 2 April unidentified persons acquired unauthorized access to the website of Mahiliou branch of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" and published an article with threats to indpendent journalist Ales Burakou on behalf of human rights defender Barys Bukhel. The unknown offenders hacked the website security and changed the administrator's passwords.
04.04.2013 Viktar Buzinayeu gets official notice about appointment of expert examination
Babruisk leader of the United Civil Party Viktar Buzinayeu has received an official document from Homel customs office, in which it is stated that an expert examination of the printed editions confiscated from his car was appointed in accordance with Article 138 of the Customs Code of the Republic of Belarus with the aim to determine whether they contained any information prohibited for import to the territory of the Customs Union.

04.04.2013 Vasil Parfiankou fined for violation of the regime of preventive supervision
Vasil Parfiankou has been charged with a violation of the regime of preventive supervision for the first time since the release from the detention facility on 9 February. On 4 April Yury Harbatouski, Judge of Pershamaiski District Court of Minsk, fined him 800,000 rubles.

03.04.2013 General Prosecutor's Office gives formal reply to appeal of independent journalist
Brest journalist Alina Litvinchuk received an answer to her complaint from Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus, Aliaksandr Kaniuk. She appealed an official warning about the inadmissibility of the work of journalists without accreditation, issued to her at the end of 2012.

Liubou Kavaliova, the mother of Uladzislau Kavaliou, charged with the terrorist act in Minsk metro, wants to know the details of the last minutes of the son's life, and considers the verdict as unfair. That's why she is trying to find which state agency executed the death verdict, issued to her son by the Supreme Court of Belarus.
