On 4 July an activist of the “European Belarus” Andrei Molchan was tried at the Pershamaiski District Court of Minsk for having unfurled a national white-red-white flag on 19 May in order to express solidarity with Siarhei Kavalenka.
04.07.2012 Valiantsin Stefanovich’s lawsuit to be considered on 16 July
Human rights defender Valiantsin Stefanovich has finally received a summons to court. The case will be considered by Judge Alena Siamak – she protracted the appointment of the trial for more than four months, though the legal term for considering lawsuits is just one month.
04.07.2012 Opposition to nominate one pretender at Pruzhanskaya constituency #9 and three – at Ivatsevichskaya constituency #11.
The head of the Biaroza district branch of the United Civil Party Aliaksandr Kabanau intends to run for the Parliament at the Pruzhany electoral constituency #9. A member of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party “Hramada” and the civil campaign “Tell the Truth!” Valiantsin Lazarenkau and a member of the United Civil Party Viktoryia Hryniuk will run at Ivatsevichy electoral constituency #11.

Youth activist Artsiom Babei was detained in Baranavichy on 3 July, the official Independence Day.

Late in the evening of 3 July a member of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Volha Pansevich was detained near the Slonim District Executive Committee.

A new trial has started in Luninets in connection with the attempt of the trade union activist Mikalai Karyshau to get rehabilitated at work.
04.07.2012 Rally against fake elections banned in Baranavichy
On 29 June entrepreneur and civil activists Mikalai Charnavus received a letter from the deputy head of the Baranavichy City Executive Committee Dz. Kastsiukevich, in which it was stated that the executive committee refused to authorize the countrywide rally on 9 July, by means of which Mr. Charnavus wanted to inform the public about the absence of real elections in Belarus at all levels.
04.07.2012 Homel oppositionists nominate 20 people to constituency commissions
The Homel regional organization of the United Civil Party held a sitting for the nomination of members to electoral commissions. It was decided to nominate eight people to the constituency electoral commissions in Homel and the Homel region. The regional organization of the “Fair World” party also nominated ten members to the electoral commissions, and two more were nominated by the Belarusian Popular Front Party.

On 19 June the Berlin branch of the human rights organization “Amnesty International” held a picket in support of Belarusian human rights defenders and opposition activists.
04.07.2012 Appeal of political prisoner Vasil Parfiankou to be considered 27 July
This May the Pershamaiski District Court of Minsk sentenced Mr. Parfiankou to six months of arrest for an alleged violation of the regime of prophylactic supervision.
