01.08.2011 Homel: journalist appeals policeman's actions
On 3 July Alena Hermanovich, a journalist for the BelaPAN information agency, was detained by the police at the Pryvakzalnaya Square in Homel. The woman was taken to the police station. During the detention police major Aliaksandr Koshman gave the following order to his subordinates: “Seize her, she is a journalist!”, which means that he deliberately created obstacles to her professional activities.

On 29 July Aliaksandr Karamyshau, Judge of the Minsk City Economic Court, considered the administrative case that had been brought against the private socio-political edition Nasha Niva by the Main Police Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee, and sentenced the newspaper to pay a fine of 14 million rubles.

At the end of June the editorial office of the private socio-political newspaper Niasvizhski Chas sent a letter to the state enterprise Minskablsayuzdruk to propose cooperation. In the beginning of July the enterprise answered that on 3 January 2011 it finished the campaign on concluding such agreements with periodicals and doesn't intend to sell the newspaper this year.
