Journalist Tatsiana Shaputska sentenced to 10 days of arrest
Tatsiana Shaputska, a
journalist of the Novy Chas newspaper, who had been detained in Horki,
was sentenced to10 days of administrative arrest.
Such decision was taken by the Drybin Distriict Court (Mahiliou region) in the
evening of 3August, BelaPAN informs.
At the hearing, Tatsiana claimed that during the picket she was performing her
professional duties as a journalist. «The court reviewed the video and audio
recordings made by her and took note of them, but it had no influence on the
verdict», BelaPAN correspondent reports.
Tatsiana Shaputska was arrested on 2 August during the picket in support of
political prisoner Dzmitry Dashkevich near the walls of the Horki penal colony.
The police decided that the journalist was involved in the action.
The night after the arrest and the whole next day the detainees (all in all 14
people) spent in Drybin awaiting the trial. The processes began only in the
evening.
