Journalists address Prosecutor General and Interior Minister
On 13 July in the morning journalists went to the General Procuracy of Belarus in
order to pass their address to its head, Ryhor Vasilevich.
In this address the journalists remind that they implement their professional
duties at mass events and have a legal right to do it. They also demand to hold
a check-up concerning the unlawful detentions, destruction of the confiscated
photo materials and obstacles to their professional activities, and bring the
perpetrators to legal account.
Bear in mind that according to the Belarusian Association of Journalists, 77
Belarusian and foreign journalists have been detained at silent protest actions
in Belarus
this summer.
The address was signed by 30 journalists. A similar address was submitted to
Anatol Kuliashou, Interior Minister. Its copies were also submitted to the
Information Minister, Aleh Praliaskouski, and the Chair of the Supreme Court,
Valiantski Sukala.
