22.07.2009 Young Democrats leader insists on prosecution of riot police officers
Mikhail Pashkevich, leader of the Young Democrats organization, has lodged a claim with Minsk Tsentralny Prosecutor’s Office, City prosecutor’s Office and the Internal Security Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior with a demand to prosecute several riot police officers and regular policemen for numerous offences during the 16 July Solidarity Day rally in Minsk. The list of alleged offences compiled by the activist includes battery, illegal arrests and insults. The complaint stresses that the offences dishonour the high status of the Belarusian policeman.
22.07.2009 Officer of Almaz special unit kidnap oppositionists in Belarus
“Young Front” activists Nasta Palazhanka and Dzyanis Karnou identified the man who had been in charge of their kidnapping on March 25.
We remind that “Young Front” activists Nasta Palazhanka and Dzyanis Karnou were detained by unknown people on Freedom Day March 25 some hours before the rally. Dzyanis Karnou was beaten up, his jeans were cut, and his money was seized.
20.07.2009 6 oppositionists arrested in Zhodzina
On 17 July Zhodzina police detained 6 United Civil Party activists – Uladzimir Kazak, Aliaksandr Serhiyenka, Siarhei Kluyeu, Aliaksandr Stsepanenka, Raman and Aliaksei Bahdanovichs – as they were distributing newspapers and leaflets at the BelaAZ automobile plant entrance. According to the UCPB leader Anatol Liabedzka, the newspapers covered a series of anti-recessionary policy measures proposed by representatives of the opposition movement of Belarus.

The responsible secretary of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party Dzianis Sadouski paid a visit to the Supreme Court to familiarize with the documents where the pretensions of the Ministry of Justice because of which the BCD was not registered, were stated.

06.07.2009 Artur Finkevich to lodge complaint with Ministry of Defense
Artur Finkevich, leader of the Young Belarus unregistered organization, is going to lodge a complaint with the Ministry of Defense against lieutenant-colonel Aliaksandrau, deputy commander of military unit 29 where his friend and oppositional activist Ivan Shyla is currently serving. The activist says the military official abused his national dignity by illegally denying meeting with Ivan Shyla. ‘Lieutenant-colonel Aliaksei Aliaksandrau ordered that we spoke Russian,’ says Mr.Finkevich.

The leader of the For Freedom movement Alexander Milinkevich has addressed the head of Homel oblast court Liudmila Mikhalkova and the prosecutor of Homel oblast Valiantsin Shayeu. In his address he states that the founder of human rights educational association For Freedom Uladzimir Katsora has been several times sentenced to administrative arrest for far-fetched reasons.
