06.08.2014 Czech Foreign Minister receives Ales Bialiatski
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Lubomír Zaorálek, received Belarusian activist Ales Bialiatski at the Czernin Palace on 5 August, 2014. Ales Bialiatski founded the most respected Belarusian human rights organization "Viasna", which provides legal and financial support to the victims of Belarusian regime repressions.

Activist of "European Belarus" Maksim Viniarski is summoned to the Frunzenski District Police Department of Minsk for August 7 to be issued an official warning for "extremism".
06.08.2014 Vitsebsk: picket in support of political prisoners banned for traditional reasons
The event, aimed at reminding the people about the existence of political prisoners in modern Belarus, has been scheduled for August 4. However, human rights defender Leanid Svetsik wasn't allowed to hold it.
06.08.2014 Chief editor of “NASH Mahiliou” Ihar Barysau to be tried August 12
It became known from the subpoena, which he received by mail. Mr. Barysau is summoned to the Mahiliou District Court for 3 p.m. on August 12 to be tried under Article 22.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses for trafficking the newspaper “NASH Mahiliou” and the bulletin “Satsyial-Demakrat” in his car. The trial will be presided by Judge Leuchanka.

August 6 the Human Rights Center "Viasna" passed to the Azerbaijan's Embassy in Minsk a statement condemning the repression of President Aliyev against prominent human rights defenders of the country.
06.08.2014 Salihorsk residents protest against illegal construction of road through their yard
The illegal construction of a highway through the yard area in one of the districts of Salihorsk has caused a widespread discontent with the locals. Officers of the district executive committee and the board of capital construction rushed to extinguish the “fire of people's anger”.

On August 5 an activist from Homel Yury Rubtsou visited the Savetski district department of the Investigation Committee of Minsk, were he was interrogated as a suspect in a criminal case.
06.08.2014 Call for the immediate and unconditional release of Leyla Yunus, Arif Yunus and Rasul Jafarov
64 NGOs from 13 Human Rights Houses call upon the Azerbaijani authorities, in their joint letter to President Ilham Aliyev, to immediately and unconditionally release Leyla Yunus, Arif Yunus and Rasul Jafarov, and lift all charges held against them. The NGOs also repeat their previous call to release Anar Mammadli and Bashir Suleymanli, and join calls for the release of Hasan Huseynli.

5 August 2014 – With thousands fleeing the intensifying violence in eastern Ukraine, senior United Nations officials today urged the Government to establish a central registration system which would help coordinate relief efforts for the already 117,000 internally displaced people (IDPs).

Chairman of the Crimean Field Mission on Human Rights Andrey Yurov believes that is necessary to strengthen civil society organizations in the Crimea, as civil liberties will be curtailed within a year to the extent it has been done in Russia for 15 years.
