08.08.2013 Detention and trials of Belarusian National-Bolsheviks (updated)
This morning in different parts of Minsk the police detained Belarusian National Bolsheviks who were protesting against the "draft-slavery – Yauhen Kontush, Dzmitry Paliyenka and Dzianis Sakhar. The detainees were guarded to the Tsentralny District Police Department of Minsk.

Baranavichy human rights defenders and social activists are outraged at the biased and hasty decision of Judge Katsiaryna Hruda. On 6 August they filed a collective complaint to the prosecutor's office in the administrative case of Viktar Syrytsa.
07.08.2013 “Tell the Truth” didn't succeed in appealing registration denial
The Supreme Court of Belarus dismissed the complaint of the campaign "Tell the Truth" at the refusal of the Ministry of Justice to register the public association. The corresponding decision was voiced on 7 August by Judge Valiantsin Kulik. The Ministry of Justice explained its refusal to register the association by a reference to two "irremediable" violations.

Unidentified provocateurs spread information on internet forums and websites of Mikashevichy and Luninets and that activists and of the independent trade union at the “Granite” plant receive money and orders to discredit the plant from the abroad.
07.08.2013 First food parcel for in 8 months passed to imprisoned head of “Viasna” Ales Bialiatski
Today, on 7 August, the first food parcel for this year has been passed to the political prisoner Ales Bialiatski. Earlier, on 6 May 2013, his wife Natallia Pinchuk paid a visit to the penal colony No.2 where he has been kept since February 2012, to pass him a food parcel. However, the prison officials reported that in March 2013 Ales Bialiatski was denied the right to receive food parcels for another 6 months as a result of the imposed penalties.

The Minsk politicians Yury Hubarevich (first deputy chairman of the Movement "For Freedom"), Aliaksei Yanukevich (Chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front Party) and Andrei Dzmitryieu (deputy head of the civic initiative "Tell the Truth") spent the whole day of 6 August in Slonim.

Thousands of people around the world have joined the International Day of Solidarity with Belarusian civil society. Human rights defenders, civil society activists, politicians, artists and ordinary citizens from 15 countries took part in solidarity actions on 4 August.

06.08.2013 Another conflict between Salihorsk residents and local authorities
The construction of a large parking lot near the building of the large shopping center “Budmarket” in Zaslonau Street caused a strong discontent on the part of young parents who live in a dormitory nearby. The Salihorskers fear for the safety and health of their children.

06.08.2013 Human rights defenders Uladzimir Labkovich and Tatsiana Reviaka punished with fines
The members of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" Uladzimir Labkovich and Tatsiana Reviaka were familiarized with the new violation reports at the Savetski District Police Department of Minsk. 40 minutes after it they were taken to the Savetski District Court of Minsk.
06.08.2013 Statement of Belarusian Helsinki Committee on persecution of human rights defenders Tatsiana Reviaka and Uladzimir Labkovich
Tatsiana Reviaka and Uladzimir Labkovich were detained on 5 August 2013 while handing out leaflets with a portrait of the head of the Human Rights Center “Viasna” Ales Bialatski, arrested two years ago. Officers of the Savetski District Police Department of Minsk qualified their actions as a “violation of the order of organizing and holding mass events” and drew up reports of administrative violation.
06.08.2013 Hrodna branches of United Civil Party and “Young Democrats” support Ales Bialiatski
On 5 August activists of the Hrodna organizations of the United Civic Party and the "Young Democrats" joined the nationwide action in support of the political prisoner Ales Bialiatski. The activists handed out postcard with a picture of the leader of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" and information about him in the center of Hrodna. The action went without any incidents.
06.08.2013 “Tell the Truth” demands that police wear uniform: “At least, you know you won't be killed”
During the Monday press-conference in Minsk the social activists read their address to the Chamber of Representatives, the Council of Ministers and the head of the public council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs Henadz Davydzka.
