Belarus is swung with a wave of searches, detentions and interrogations held by KGB within the framework of the criminal case that has been instigated upon Article 293 of the Criminal Code (mass riot) in connection with the 19 December protest rally in the center of Minsk.

05.01.2011 Hrodna: human rights defender Uladzimir Khilmanovich is summoned to KGB again
The Hrodna human rights defender Uladzimir Khilmanovich was sumoned to the local KGB office by investigator Hrynkevich. The investigator said that this time Mr. Khilmanovich is summoned for interrogation in connection with the events of 19 December in Minsk. However, the human rights defender had been already questioned on this matter on 28 December.
05.01.2011 Activist of Speak Truth hasn't returned from interrogation
At night KGB officers searched the apartment that was renteded by an activist of the Speak Truth civil campaign Pavel Vinahradau and his girlfriend. The search was held by an investigator of the Pershamaiski District Police Department of Minsk Aliaksandr Fitser.
05.01.2011 Searches in apartments of democratic activists continue
One of the leaders of the movement of entrepreneurs, Ales Makayeu, has informed BelaPAN that KGB members searched his flat yesterday. Minsk and Minsk Province KGB members confiscated his system unit. Makayeu will have to visit KGB for an interrogation on 5 January.

A human rights activist Nasta Loika was interrogated by KGB as a witness of 19 December events in Minsk, reports BelaPAN.
05.01.2011 Siarhei Kliuyeu – one more suspect in ‘mass riot’ case
Siarhei Kliuyeu was informed that he was a suspect in the criminal case started in connection with the mass disorders on his release from the delinquents’ isolation center in Akrestsin Street on 3 January. He had to spend 15 days there.
05.01.2011 KGB searched office of Belarusian Helsinki Committee and apartment of its chairperson
The office of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee was searched by KGB officers. A laptop and the organization server were confiscated as a result. After it, the KGB officers went to the apartment of the BHC Chairperson, Aleh Hulak. They also told they would summon him for an interrogation.

04.01.2011 Marasmus of law machinery: Dzmitry Fedaruk to spend 18 days in jail
A youth activist Dzmitry Fedaruk was arrested for 10 days for participation in the protest action of 19 December. However, he wasn’t released after these ten days. It’s unbelievable, but he will have to serve 8 days of arrest which he hadn’t served for participation in the unauthorized mass action held on 1 May 2008!
04.01.2011 Father voted after death
Valery Zhalubouski, resident of the village of Narach, Miadzel district: my father, Uladzislau Zhalubouski, born in 1937, died on 16 December. On 19 December my mother came to the polling station to vote and asked whether she could vote for him. However, she was answered that he had already voted, on 18 December!
04.01.2011 Ex-presidential candidate Ryhor Kastusiou appeals results of election at Supreme Court
Ryhor Kastusiou has applied to the Supreme Court of Belarus with the request to review the results of the Central Election Commission concerning the acknowledgement of the presidential election. His application includes the enumeration of the violations that were registered by observers, members of election commissions and electioneering agents of candidates.
04.01.2011 KGB bans Vital Rymasheuski to hold press-conference
The former prisoner of the KGB jail, ex-presidential candidate Vital Rymasheuski says that he had to cancel his press-conference he intended to hold on 4 January.
