Last night persons in mufti who introduced themselves as workers of the police department of organized crimes burst into an apartment in Paliavaya Street 26 in Minsk, which was rented by the public activist Krystsina Shatsikava. The policemen stated that they suspected those who were there in illegal stay in the apartment which was owned by another person and in property theft. They also wrote it in the detention reports.

02.08.2007 Fine for One Sticker

On 1 August Leninski borough administrative commission of Hrodna fined a member of Belarusian People’s Front Party Stsiapan Svidzerski about 56 US dollars. He was found guilty of having violated article 21.14 of the Administrative Code (violation of the sanitation rules in towns and cities) for having posted a sticker on the building in Savetskaya Street 15.

31.07.2007 Youth Activists Hryshchenia and Viachorka Put Behind Bars

On 30 July Zavadski borough court of Minsk considered an administrative case against a member of Belarusian People’s Front Party Franak Viachorka. Viachorka was detained on 27 July, during an action dedicated to an anniversary of the State Sovereignty Declaration.

23 July The Young Front member Aleh Korban was detained by persons in mufti on suspicion in theft of a mobile phone. Korban was taken to the police for identification and released without any violation reports composed.

26.07.2007 Musicians Fired for Performing at Basovishcha Rock Festival

The vocalist of Stsiana rock band Pavel Prokharau and its drummer Aliaksei Kuzniatsou work as sound-engineers at Brest state TV studio. Recently they have been informed that on 8 August they will be fired for ‘absenteism from work which resulted in violation of the working discipline’ (paragraph 5 of article 48 of the Labor Code).

Homel tax inspection has decided to check the public association Legal Initiative. On 13 July Leanid Sudalenka, chairman of Homel branch of the organization is to give a number of documents for examination. The list of the required documents includes about 20 items.
