The prosecutors’ office of Savetski district of Minsk ‘does not consider’ beating up participants of the peaceful rally of young people in the capital on St. Valentine’s Day by riot policemen ‘to be a socially dangerous act’.

The joint statement on carrying out an examination by the public prosecutor of the fact of disband of the rally and beating up its participants was made by activists of the Young Front Zmitser Dashkevich, Pavel Kuryianovich, Vadzim Khaniauka and Mikola Dzemidzenka, the website mfront.net reminds.

It is noted in the answer of the prosecutor’s office that initiation of a criminal case was denied under Paragraph 1 Part 1 of Article 29 of the Criminal Code, ‘because of the absence of socially dangerous act’.

‘The negative answer of the prosecutor’s office was predictable. The prosecutor’s office covers up the criminal actions of policemen. But despite of that we shall challenge the denial of the regional prosecutor’s office in Minsk,’ comments one of the Minks leaders of the Young Front Pavel Kuryianovich.

As we have informed, on 14 February a youth rally dedicated to St. Valentine’s Day was brutally disbanded in Minsk. Riot policemen with truncheons were sent against the young activists.
