Maryia Kalesnikava, one of the leaders of the opposition Coordination Council, is facing charges under Part 3, Art. 361 of the Criminal Code ("public calls for the seizure of state power, or forcible change of the constitutional order of the Republic of Belarus"), according to her lawyer Liudmila Kazak.

08.09.2020 Amnesty International: Authorities subject opposition leader Maryia Kalesnikava to abduction-style arrest
Belarusian authorities must immediately disclose the fate and whereabouts of opposition leader Maryia Kalesnikava and release her without delay, Amnesty International said today. According to eyewitnesses, Maryia Kalesnikava was abducted by masked men in Minsk on Monday morning, contradicting the Belarusian authorities’ claim that she was detained at the border with Ukraine.

Dzmitry Mishakouski was detained in the Maskoŭski district of Minsk, near the Malinaŭka metro station at about 5 pm on August 12. "The riot police were chasing someone. I turned up by chance, they put me in a bus or in a police van, I don't remember which. They took my phone away at once, broke it, asked for the password, I do not understand on what grounds."

04.09.2020 UN committee hails role of women in political process and protests
Reports of violence against women in Belarus, including sexual abuse and rape, received by UN human rights experts, are deeply concerning, the UN women’s rights committee said on Thursday. The Committee also underlined how women voices are not marginal, but central in political processes.
