02.11.2010 Representatives of non-existent commissions keep walking in Svetlahorsk
The case
of the ‘representative’ of the precinct election commission, which was reported
earlier, is not the only one in Svetlahorsk (Homel region). The women who visit
people’s apartments and verify the lists of electors introduce themselves as
members of precinct election commissions. Meanwhile, the commission hasn’t been
formed yet.
02.11.2010 Central Election Commission rebukes lawbreakers, but without any legal consequences
The CEC
believes that making school teachers and kindergarten educators collect
signatures for nomination of presidential candidate Aliaksandr Lukashenka
during working hours is completely legal, even if they are not members of his
campaign team. This conclusion can be drawn from the response of the Chairperson
of the Central Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna to the complaint of the human
rights defender Valiantsin Stefanovich concerning the discovery of ‘the
schedule of participation in the picket near the Serabranka market at 14 October 2010’ by journalists of the
European Radio for Belarus.
02.11.2010 Central Election Commission ‘lost’ signatures collected for Uladzimir Niakliayeu in Vitsebsk region
During a press conference the Central Election Commission stated that no signatures were collected in the Vitsebsk region for the nomination of Uladzimir Niakliayeu. The local activists refuted this by contacting the regional election commission. The Commission Chairman Viachaslau Krukovski confirmed that it had handed over 32,005 signatures. Nevertheless, the bug hasn’t been fixed at the CEC website.
02.11.2010 Vitsebsk: ex-pretender for president dismissed from work
Siarhei Ryzhou is dismissed from the position of the head of the foreign economic relations department of the fruit and vegetable combine Nouka. He states that he started receiving warnings about the dismissal after the registration of his campaign team, and his statement about withdrawal from the election on 21 October didn’t influence the situation.
02.11.2010 Babruisk: member of Belarusian Helsinki Committee files complaints to city authorities and Central Election Commission
The Babruisk member of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Aliaksandr Leanenka filed a complaint to the CEC and the Babruisk City Executive Committee in connection with the refusal to let him observe the formation of election commissions in the Leninski district.

to information of the Chairperson of the Vitsebsk regional organization of the
Belarusian Popular Front Party, Kanstantsin Smolikau, the party structure
delegated 24 representatives for work in the precinct election commissions of
Vitsebsk and 1 – in the town of Haradok.

The Homel regional organization of the United Civil Party decided to nominate 122 representatives to the precinct election commissions (71 of them – in the city of Homel).

On 12 October the member of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee Leanid Markhotka addressed the Chairperson of the Salihorsk District Executive Committeee the request to be invited to the events standing in the schedule of organizational and ideological provision of the election. On 28 October he received an answer.
02.11.2010 Brest: police had to offer apologies to collector of signatures
We learned about the details of an incident that
took place during one of the last days of collection of signatures in support
of nomination of candidates for president of Belarus. The member of Uladzimir
Niakliayeu’s campaign team Dzmitry Lazarenkau collected signatures in the Kavaliova suburb. He was met by an
extremely irritated woman in house #12 in Valhahradskaya Street. She said that she
was an adherent of Lukashenka and decided to call the police in order to
prevent him from collecting signatures in the house.
