23.07.2013 Zhlobin District Court acquits Fair World member
A three-year saga of the case of Yauhen Basareuski ended on July 19, as Zhlobin District Court acquitted the member of the Fair World party, as well as his former colleague Mrs. Valiantsina Kastsiukevich, both charged under Article 424 of the Criminal Code ("abuse of power or of a position of authority"). Judge Alena Yarmolchyk, unlike her colleague Ina Sharshniova, had enough courage and conscience to dismiss the case, which had a political tinge from the very beginning.

22.07.2013 Restrictions expire for 5 convicts in 2010 “rioting” case
According to human rights defender Tatsiana Reviaka, five men convicted over the December 2010 post-election protest, are now free of any restrictions as their sentences expired on July 20-22. They are Siarhei Vazniak, Aliaksandr Fiaduta, Andrei Dzmitryeu, Vital Rymasheski and Siarhei Martseleu. “Certain freedom is returning to these people,” says Mrs. Reviaka, as quoted by the Nasha Niva newspaper.

The Court of Minsk’s Partyzansky district waived today the criminal penalty imposed on journalist Iryna Khalip after she was sentenced to two years' imprisonment suspended for two years on May 16, 2011 for alleged involvement in the so-called mass riots in Minsk on December 19, 2010.

16.07.2013 Young Front activist Uladzimir Yaromenak faces another prison term
On July 14, his own wedding day, Young Front activist Uladzimir Yaromenak received a phone call from a police investigator who urged him to appear for a conversation on Monday. Later, the policemen agreed to put off the conversation till Tuesday. Today, the activist was served a decision to institute criminal proceedings against him under Article 421 of the Criminal Code “Violation of preventive supervision restrictions”, dated 24 May.
15.07.2013 Vasil Parfiankou faces new prison term
Vasil Parfiankou, involved in the case of the alleged riots in Minsk on 19 December 2010, was formally charged under Article 421 of the Criminal Code (failure to comply with the requirements of preventive supervision). On 12 July he was informed about it by an investigator of the Pershamaiski District Police Department of Minsk.
