On 5 November in Niasvizh the police detained the activists of the Young Front Zmitser Banko, Illia and Ivan Shylas and Krystsina Samoylava. Later, near the district police department, they also seized the Young Front member Andrei Tychyna.

12.10.2007 Homel and Hrodna: Preventively Detained Declare Hunger-strike

Several days ago in Homel the police detained the leader of Homel city office of the United Civil Party Vasil Paliakou and his deputy Uladzimir Katsora. Both of them were found guilty of ?dirty swearing’ and sentenced to 7 days of jail. Now they are kept in the temporary isolator of Homel. Katsora and Paliakou have declared a hunger-strike.

On 10 October in Hrodna the public and political activists Yan Bohdan, Yury Istomin, Viktar Sazonau and Zmitser Slutski were arrested for ?dirty swearing’. On 10 October the chair of the Union of Poles in Belarus Anzhalika Borys, followed their fate. She also became a victim of ?dirty swearing’.

10.10.2007 European March Organizer Yauhen Afnahel Arrested Right after Negotiations with Minsk Authorities

On 8 October Minsk Tsentralny district court sentenced the European March applicant, activist of the civil campaign For Freedom Yauhen Afnahel to 10 days of arrest. Afnahel was under observation since he left Minsk City Executive Committee where he participated in the negotiations with the city authorities on holding the European March. The oppositionist was meanly caught by the police on fabricated charges. The trial of the applicant of the European March was closed, without a lawyer.

08.10.2007 Miadzel: Police Detain Activist of ?For Freedom!’ Movement Zmitser Padreza

The police stopped Zmitser Padreza near his parents’ house and demanded to open his bag. There they found stickers dedicated to the upcoming mass action European March and took him to Miadzel district police department. There they drew on him a report of administrative violation, confiscated the stickers and took away his mobile.

08.10.2007 Supreme Court Upholds Non-registration of ?Young Front’

The Supreme Court has considered the appeal of the Young Front council against the refusal of the Ministry of Justice to register the organization because of alleged non-compliance of its charter with the legislation in the paragraphs concerning mass actions and participation of the Belarusian citizens who live abroad.

08.10.2007 Smaliavichy: Police Detain Activists of ?For Freedom!’ Movement

On 5 October in Smaliavichy the police detained nine young activists of For Freedom! movement. 12 activists handed out Svaboda newspaper and some more stood with a white-red-white flag in the town center.

02.10.2007 Salihorsk: Police Detain Andrei Tychyna

On 30 September the Young Front activists from Salihorsk held a picket in support of political prisoners. Earlier applications for several pickets were considered by Salihorsk city executive committee. The committee banned the pickets and ordered the police to watch the activists.
