Activists Demand to Stop Pressure on Andrei Bandarenka
The electronic appeal was sent by e-mail to Ihar Shunevich, the Minister of the Interior, on June 8.
Currently, Andrei Bandarenka is faced with measures that human rights defenders consider excessive for his environment, which, accompanied with other circumstances, testify to purposeful cruel treatment towards him because of his previous human rights activities.
According to the information from the statement, Andrei Bandarenka from the start of the imprisonment was exposed to pressure from other prisoners. Instead of granting him security, administration of the colony had placed him in an isolated camera. Further, he was found guilty of formal violation of discipline and transferred, by a court ruling, to a strict security prison. He moves around the prison with a convoy of guards and dogs, in handcuffs.
In this regard, human rights defenders reiterate their demand to stop the ungrounded persecution of A. Bandarenka by the Department of Execution of Sentences; to hold a check-up into the conditions of imprisonment of A. Bandarenka, and to allow a meeting for him with representatives of human rights organizations.
