Several opposition activists faced administrative charges following yesterday’s picket held outside the Valadarka jail in Minsk. The protest was reportedly held to mark the birthday of jailed activist Dzmitry Paliyenka, 22, who is held at the facility on charges of violent resistance to a police officer that he faced after being involved in the Critical Mass bicycle event on April 29.
As a result, the protesters were charged with illegal picketing and are expected to stand trials in the near future.
