On April 3, police officers in Naroŭlia detained freelance journalist Ales Zaleuski, as well as his TV crew, and the person they were interviewing. As a result, they had to spend a few hours at the local police station and give explanations about the story they were shooting. In particular, the crew were accused of illegal filming a number of local government buildings.

The journalists were shooting a story about Ivan Vitkouski, who was involved in the liquidation of consequences of the Chernobyl accident in 1986. As a result, he became disabled.

“I understand it’s their job, because the laws are what they are,” says journalist Ales Zaleuski. “But, of course, I am against such practices and such laws.”
