Kitchen TV. New wave of migration: A challenge for Europe (video)
The European migrant crisis has become one of hottest topics covered by media around the world. Between January and July 2015, the EU countries were entered by 340,000 migrants. Many European governments have been unable to withstand the influx of refugees and are forced to take urgent measures, including tightening border controls, building walls and imposing quotas on immigrants. Other states, on the contrary, are trying to help migrants settle into their new environment, and citizens demonstrate in support of refugees.
Do people living in Central and Western Europe equally perceive the situation with an increase in the number of refugees? What is the difference between the approaches to the refugee problem? The questions are answered in the new issue of the human rights video project Kitchen TV by vice-head of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" Valiantsin Stefanovich and a Dutch journalist Franka Hummels.
