On June 12, 28-year-old Hanna Ulitskaya, a delegate of the 5th founding congress of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party (BCD) was detained in Miadzel by officers of the local inter-district department of the KGB division for Minsk and the Minsk region.

According to the BCD press service, a KGB officer met the woman on her way to a shop. Hanna was ordered to visit his office. The KGB officer asked about BCD activists in the Miadzel district and was especially interested in sources of financing of the opposition. Hanna was allowed to go free without charges after he mobile phone had been seized.

Zmitser Vinahradau, a coordinator of the BCD organising committee in the Miadzel district, thinks Hanna Ulitskaya was detained ahead of the congress to scare other activists and discourage them from attending the event.
