Investigative Committee doesn't recognize Leanid Sudalenka victim in criminal case

June 12, human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka received the decision of the regional department of the Investigative Committee to refuse his recognition as a victim in the criminal case in connection with the distribution of pornographic materials in Homieĺ. In case the identity of the person who has blocked his e-mail account is established the question of his recognition as a victim can be raised again.

Investigator Yury Zenchanka says that Sudalenka's statement that at present the blockage of the e-mail account sudalenko@mail.ru by an unknown person is confirmed only by the human rights activist himself and the testimonies of witnesses, who are his acquaintances.

“The screenshot regarding his correspondence with the technical service of mail.ru confirms not the hacking of the e-mail account, but only the fact of his appeal and correspondence. The version about the unauthorized access to the e-mail account and its blockage is being checked. If it is confirmed, the question of finding him a victim in the case can be raised again,” concludes the lieutenant-colonel of justice.

Let us remind that the Investigative Committee has questioned all activists who have access to the IP-address from which the pornographic materials had been sent to a district tax inspection and the regional department of the Investigative Committee. As it can be seen from the reply, after the expiry of the two-month term of the preliminary investigation the investigator decided to suspend the investigation until receiving additional evidence from the e-mail service mail.ru, which can take six or more months.
