The incident took place in the evening of 1 June, when local journalists Ales Liauchuk and Milana Kharytonava were preparing a video report about the dangers of smoking in one of the shopping centers of Brest.

During the preparation of the report a small boy interfered with the work of the journalists. After Milana Kharytonava made a remark to him, an unidentified man (probably, the father of the boy – photoed), ran up to them. He tried to seize the camera, insulted the journalists, then knocked Ales Liauchuk down and called the police. As a result, the journalists were taken to the Maskouski District Police Department where they were required to give explanations about the conflict. According Mr. Liauchuk, the police behaved correctly, and about an hour later the journalists left the DPD without getting any charges.
