Ministry of Defense responds to appeals in Belarusian solely in Russian

Correspondence of the Salihorsk UCP party member Viktar Malochka with the structures of the Ministry of Defense has identified a total violation of the law on appeals of citizens by duty officials of this state agency.

Over the past two months, Mr. Malochka sent a number inquiries to various agencies concerning the transfer of the monument to the villagers of Kryvičy (Salihorsk district), killed during the Second World War, to another place. Among other agencies, letters were sent to the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, the Office for Honoring Fatherland Defenders and War Victims of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, as well as in Salihorsk District Military Commissariat of Minsk region. All requests to the military structures of the Ministry of Defense were made in the Belarusian language, but Mr. hasn't received any answers in it.

Therefore, the activist had to appeal to the prosecutor's office. During the prosecutor's inspection the deputy head of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus officially apologized for his earlier answer in Russian. The prosecutor's inspection for violation of violation of the legislation by other structures of the Ministry of Defense is going on.
