The customs officers detained the car of the civil society activist Kanstantsin Zhukouski for several hours.

The activist delivered humanitarian aid to Ukraine. At the checkpoint "Novaya Huta" customs officers stopped his car, first on Friday morning while leaving Belarus. He was detained for about 1.5 hours and then let to the Ukraine.

In the evening Mr. Zhukouski was detained again. Though the majority of the items he had carried in his car had been passed to Ukrainians, the customs officers copied the information about them from the morning report of examination:

“In the morning I was carrying second had shoes and clothes. The customs officers just copied everything from the morning report. Thus, they actually confirmed the political motivation of the search, because nobody cared whether I had any meat or lard with me on my return to Belarus,” commented Mr. Zhukouski.

The clothes, shoes and other things were collected by Minsk and Homel residents for refugees from Donbass and the families of perished and injured Ukrainians. According to Kanstantsin Zhukouski, earlier he had no problems while carrying such humanitarian aid. He explains the recent events at the customs office by the information resonance – information about gathering humanitarian aid has been published in mass media and social networking websites.
