The presentation of the book of Ales Bialiatski was held in Orsha
A collection of essays "Mercurial silver of life" - is mostly essays written by the president of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" while in custody. Author and his assistant Alena Laptsienak told to the citizens of Orsha how it was created.
In letters to the outside world from the Bobruisk prison Ales Bialiatski mentions activities of Belarusian human rights activists after the elections of 2010, shares his memories and thoughts. According to the author, these essays-memories are organized into chronological order in the book, but not in the order they came in the letters to outside world from the prison. Some of them were stopped by censorship, and essays had to be edited. And then the edition was made directly for publishing – firstly in the blog of Ales Bialiatski on belaruspartisan.org site, and then in a separate book.
Initially it was thought that the first presentation of the book will be held in June. But absolutely unexpectedly for himself a human rights activist, he was released on June 22. On that day, many activists from the Vitebsk region gathered in Bychki village of Ushachi District to celebrate the anniversary of Vasil Bykau, and before the celebrations started, the news about the release of Ales Bialiatski came there. That’s why the poem of Uladzimir Niakliaeu dedicated human rights activist had an especially hot reception by participants of the celebration.
