Political prisoner Vasil Parfiankou to celebrate birthday in prison

On August 30, political prisoner Vasil Parfiankou is going to celebrate another birthday in prison. The activist was taken into custody on December 5, 2013 after he was convicted under Article 421 of the Criminal Code (“non-compliance with preventive supervision restrictions”). He was sentenced to one year of imprisonment in a penal colony in conditions of high security. Vasil plead not guilty, as he believes that the first sentence (four years in a penal colony), which he received for his involvement in the December 2010 post-election protest, was completely illegal.
Since that time, for his political activity he was many times punished with administrative arrests, and placed in an activity therapy center (LTP) in Svetlahorsk.
In January 2014, Vasil Parfiankou’s wife gave birth to a son who has not seen his father since then.
