The Minsk City Court has dismissed an appeal by a group of activists campaigning for the preservation of the Kurapaty memorial, Radio Racyja reports. The City Court thus upheld the decision of the Tsentralny District Court. The authors tried to force the Prosecutor General's Office to implement its earlier order to remove all objects that were illegally built in the territory of the Stalin repressions memorial.

According to one of the complainants, journalist Marat Haravy, he does not agree with the decision, although he was waiting for it:

“The court confirmed that in our country it is very difficult to achieve justice. Although the arguments from our side were spotless. But the court moved toward procedural issues and trumped up its decision, despite the fact that the evidence proves violations of the law. Despite this ruling, the struggle against the violation of the buffer zone of the memorial to the victims of the totalitarian Soviet past will continue. We are now preparing the next action against the Ministry of Culture.”
