Vitsebsk residents demand Ukrainian TV channel “Inter +” be returned to airplay on cable TV
Ukrianian TV channel "Inter +" was watched by cable television owners. Recently, provider of Vitsebsk Regional Technical Trade Centerhas stopped broadcasting this single Ukrainian TV channel, available on cable networks. Instead of "Inter +", Vitsebsk residents are now proposed to watch the Russian TV channel "Sarafan".
"Guarantor" explains the changes in broadcast with technical problems at the transmitting station. However, the other cable operator, "Advanced Technologies" has not yet refused to broadcast the program "Inter +". However, the provider "Advanced Technologies" has significantly fewer customers than "Guarantor".
Some readers of the website "People's News Vitebsk", where an article about the removal of the TV channel "Inter +" from the airplay, state their readiness to break the contract with the "Guarantor".
Commenters are outraged by such attitude to their own interests. They write that they were deprived of the right to information: "It was just nice to listen to Ukrainian speech, see beautiful Tv hostsand get some news – if course it is just a TV channel, no one deifies it, but there was a choice”. Some hint on political motivation behind the disappearance of the channel: "But people really looked. Though Russian propaganda is much stronger and more insistent, the people had the opportunity to see another point of view. And now elderly people will totally believe that demons who adore devouring small children live on the south."
On "Inter +" Vitsebsk residents also watched the entertainment program "Evening Quarter", full of political humor, concerning not only Ukrainian, but also Belarusian politicians, including Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
Now there is no alternative to Russian or Belarusian state and pro-government TVchannelsfor Vitsebsk clients of "Guarantor". The people who write comments on this event, unanimously condemn the removal of "Inter +" from the cable TV network.
