Valiantsina Alinevich: in May, Ihar was treated with special attention in prison
Political prisoner Ihar Alinevich (on the photo) said in one of his latest letters from Navapolatsk colony № 10 that at the beginning of May special attention was paid to him, mother of the political prisoner Valiantsina Alinevich says. She does not know what can be the reason for it, but she does not rule out the possibility that it is connected with the attempts to force Ihar to write an appeal for clemency.
Valiantsina Alinevich:
– He just wrote that in the beginning of May it was a very tense situation. Ihar wrote: "my humble person was paid special attention." I do not know what does it mean, but probably there was some pressure being put on him. I can only guess. One time, in the very beginning of the month, he said that he was called and asked to sign an appeal for clemency, but he refused. I talked to him on this issue and suggested that it may have been worth to sign the petition.
However, Ihar Alinevich said that writing an appeal for clemency means to admit guilt for the crimes he did not commit and testify against himself. And he has no intention to do so.
The young man has been sentenced to eight years of imprisonment. The court found him guilty of hooliganism and causing grand scale damage to property.
