Chairman of the Mikashevichy Town Executive Committee Anatol Davydovich has been blocking the election campaign of an independent candidate for the Town Council Leanid Dubanosau.

On March 17, Leanid Dubanosau asked the Town Executive Committee for permission to stage 8 pickets in different places of the town on March 19-20. However, the answers he received were negative.

It turned out that two locations were occupied by a pro-government candidate Mr. Litvitski and he did not want to share the picket with other candidates. As for the rest of the places, Davydovich did not even indicate the cause for the ban. The candidate may appeal the denial in court, says the Chairman of the Executive Committee.

Earlier, the official banned without explanation the pickets Dubanosau was expected to hold on March 15 and 16, as well as a meeting with voters in the House of Culture. Meanwhile, one of the locations was occupied by Dubanosau’s former boss, candidate Yury Sushko, who had a hand in the candidate’s dismissal for refusing to leave the independent trade union.

The pro-government candidates Litvitski and Sushko did not hold their pickets, observers say.
