The fifth annual awards ceremony of the Assembly of Democratic NGOs “Champions of Civil Society” will be held on December 23 in Minsk. The prize will be awarded to outstanding individuals, organizations and events that have been essential to the development of the Belarusian third sector in 2013.
As reported by the Executive Bureau of the Assembly, this year a record number of candidates in each of the nine nominations was received. The short-list – no more than 7 candidates in each category – will be formed by the Assembly’s Board.
The first informal awards ceremony was held on December 23, 2009. Over the four years, such figures as Ales Bialiatski, Zhanna Litvina and Andrzej Poczobut were named champions of civil society.
