Baranavichy activists congratulate Ales Bialiatski on Human Rights Day
On 6 December Baranavichy human rights defenders and social activists sent color postcards to Ales Bialiatski, in which the human rights activist and political prisoner was congratulated on the 65th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
“We wrote Ales Bialiatski that Human Rights Day is an international recognition of the importance of human rights defenders . We noted in the letters that Ales Bialiatski, like noone else, protects us, even from behind the bars. Of course, we wishedhim a lot more bright and happy days in his current life,” said human rights activist Siarhei Housha.
The activists also wrote Ales Bialiatski that during the last three years Baranavichy City Executive Committee hasn't given permission for any socio-political events dedicated to promoting the ideas of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Despite this, they find ways to not only tell the citizens about the idea of human rights, but also about the need to learn to protect them in their daily lives.
