Vitsebsk oppositionists file another picket application
The coordinator of the
Movement "For Freedom" in the Vitsebsk region, Khrystafor
Zhaliapau and an activist of the organizing committee of the Social
Democratic Party "Narodnaya Hramada" Aliaksei Haurutsikau
composed their application in such a way to leave the district
authorities less reasons for banning the action.
The stated
action site is one of the places determined by the opposition's mass
events by the authorities – 30-hoddzia VLKSM Park, the time – 2
to 4 p.m. on Monday, 29 October.
"This is a working day
, and we understand that more would be able to come and see us on
Saturday or Sunday. However, if we apply for holding our actions at
the weekend, the city medics refuse to enter into service contracts
with us, referring to the extra load on the ambulance during
days-off. That's why we appointed the picket on Monday – so as not
to give them the usual reasons to refuse to cooperate with us, as far
as it is impossible to get a permission from the district authorities
without entering into service agreements with the police, ambulance
and the street cleaners first,” explained Mr. Haurutsikau.
The
activists intend to hold the picket to express their solidarity with
Ales Bialiatski, Eduard Lobau, Mikalai Statkevich and other political
prisoners.
