Officers of riot police were stealing money from citizens
A criminal case has
been brought against four former riot policemen.
The materials
for this case were collected by the Main Directorate for Combating
Organized Crime and Corruption and the Department of the own
security.
Two out of the four policemen had the rank of senior
sergeant, two others were sergeants. All of them were among the best
officers in their unit, and have been repeatedly encouraged by their
administration.
At present, there are just two episodes in the
case, when 3.8 and 1.5 million rubles were stolen from Minsk
citizens. However, it is possible that the number of victims may be
higher. The investigators are trying to find for how long the
policemen have been dealing with this business.
By the way,
the check up on the suspicion that the riot police clear the pockets
of Minskers started back in May 2013.
However, the case has
been brought only recently. Before this, the four policemen were
dismissed, but not for the criminal offense, but "by agreement
of the parties".
Three of the former riot policemen have
been detained, one managed to escape.
