Vitsebskers intend to hold a picket against deployment of Russian airbases

The application for the
picket in the Mazyryn park was filed by a member of the
Conservative-Christian Party “Belarusian Popular Front” Yan
Dziarzhautsau. He intends to hold the event on 14 September.
The
stated aim of the picket is to inform the public about the danger of
the independence of Belarus as a result of delopment of the Russian
military airbases in the country.”
This is already the
second attempt for the activist to hold a picket against the
deployment of the Russian military bases: in July he addressed the
Kastrychnitski District Executive Committee of Vitsebsk with a
similar application. At that time he intended to date the picket a
symbolic date – 27 July, when the Declaration of State Sovereignty
of Belarus was adopted. However, the event was banned, as well as all
other events which were appointed by the Vitsebsk opposition on that
day.
