3 policemen face charges after “physical violence” report in Krychau

Three employees of Krychau district police department are suspected of using physical violence in the premises of the police station, the Volny Horad independent newspaper reports.

One of the suspects is currently under arrest in Mahiliou. The policeman is facing charges under Par. 3, Art. 426 of the Criminal Code (“abuse of power or official authority”).

According to the local weekly, the incident took place in December 2011, when the policemen reportedly beat a suspect in a theft case. As a result, the person received serious bodily injuries and had later to complaint of the abuse to the KGB department in Krychau.

The Volny Horad newspaper also reports the dismissal of the district police chief, Vadzim Kavaliou, is expected in the near future.
