"Chronicle of Judgement Time" presented at BAJ website
The series of
mini-movies "Chronicle of Judgment Time" (journalistic
version) includes eight films that are dedicated to the members of
the NGO "Belarusian Association of Journalists" who
suffered for freedom of speech. The heroes of the films are authors
of various publications and websites: Ales Bialiatski, Zmitser
Bandarenka, Iryna Khalip, Andrei Pachobut, Natallia Radzina, Pavel
Seviarynets, Anton Surapin and Siarhei Vazniak. Some of them had to
work under house arrest, some were forced to leave the country, some
are serving prison sentences.
"The project was made by
many authors, including such artists as Yury Khashchavatski, and
Siarhei Isakau. We set a goal to get away from the dry informational
interpretations of our heroes, to try to tell you a little, but
specific history of each of them, to deepen the format of the
artistic image, metaphor, as these are very brave and interesting
people, worthy of a full-length movie," says the author of the
project Aleh Dashkevich.
In addition, the main objective of
the project was to express solidarity.
"In my opinion,
the problem of solidarity is major problem in our society. It's not
only about solidarity before the threat of harassment and repression,
but also internal solidarity among ourselves. We did a project about
different people who hold different beliefs and ideas, but choose
freedom. It should be noted that our films were present almost at all
independent informational resources in some respect," adds Aleh
Dashkevich.
The project originated with the informational
support of the Human Rights Center "Viasna", closed by the
Belarusian authorities.
