Mikalai Ulasevich, a civil activist
from the town of Varniany, filed an appeal to Astravets District
Executive Committee for the authorization of the picket he wants to
hold on 26 April to mark the 27th anniversary of the accident at
Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
By this action he intends to
inform the public about the dangers and harmful consequences of the
construction of the new nuclear power plant on the territory of
Astravets district. The civil activists has no illusions that his
action will be authorized but considers it impossible to keep silence
in the situation around the construction of the dangerous Russian NPP
in Belarus.
