Kastus Zhukouski intends to hold a picket under the slogan "Homel City Executive Committee! Hands off history!"

The aim of the action is to draw the public attention to the fate of the wooden houses in Valatouskaya Street and the unlawful actions of Homel City Executive Committee on their dismantlement.

The activist intends to hold the picket at 12 a.m. - 1.30 p.m. in Hramyka Square. The intended number of participants in 50 people.

The civil activists of Homel have been struggling for the preservation of the wooden part of the old town for several years already. Several months ago activists of the civil initiative "Talaka" and Homel branch of the Belarusian Language Society applied to the Ministry of Culture asking to give Valatouskaya Street the status of historical and cultural heritage.

As a result, the dismantlement of the buildings for the construction of an elite multi-stored building was stopped, but the construction of a part of a house in place of the already dismantled houses continues. The construction works are conducted by Elektrapram Ltd. At the same time, state officials keep giving formal answers to all applications of the activists.
