Frunzenski District Court of Minsk ruled yesterday to release from punishment Andrei Pazniak, participant of the December 19, 2010 post-election protest. On May 26, 2011 Minsk Leninski District Court sentenced him to three years of suspended compulsory labor. Later the sentence was changed to correctional labor, withholding 15% of his salary.

Andrei Pazniak was arrested on December 19, 2010 in Independence Square in Minsk. He was first punished by a fine of 30 basic units, but later it was reported that he had been arrested in a criminal case and taken into custody. He was charged under Par. 1 and 2 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code (“rioting”).

Andrei Pazniak was born on May 20, 1977 in Zhodzina, Minsk region. He graduated from local vocational school and worked for 14 years as an electrician at BelAZ. Andrei has never been member of any political party and organization. His father is a famous football coach.
