Orsha and Orsha district left without local authorities

Many citizens of Orsha and the Orsha district were surprised at reading an announcement, printed in a small font in the last issue of the local state-owned newspaper:

"On the basis of Decree #27 of President of the Republic of Belarus of 14 January 2013 "About uniting the district and cities with common administrative centers" the liquidation commission informs about the liquidation of the Orsha City Soviet and the Orsha city and Orsha district executive committees. Pretensions from creditors are accepted during next two months."

Thus, all local executive organs have been liquidated, including the city executive committee and the district executive committee, and nothing has been created to replace them so far. At present, the city and the district are governed by some liquidation commission, whose powers, rights and duties aren't determined by any legal acts.

Meanwhile, the social problems which require the agreement of the executive committees, including building of premises, social aid, registration and many others remain unsolved.
