Pavel Vinahradau: Venturesome Fighter (video)
Another film from the "Judgment Days
Chronicle" has been published on the web. The documentary is
dedicated to a victim of political repressions, the leader of the
youth organization "Zmena" Pavel Vinahradau.
Pavel
Vinahradau was arrested in the aftermath of the peaceful
post-election protests of 19 December 2010, in the night of 4-5
January 2011. His apartment was searched in his absence, after which
he was charged under parts 1 and 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal
Code of the Republic of Belarus ("organization of and
participation in mass riot"). He was kept in the pre-trial
prison #1 in Minsk before the trial.
On 5 May 2011 Pavel
Vinahradau was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment and transferred
to the penal colony "Vouchyia Nory". On 14 September 2011
was released on a pardon decree, signed by the incumbent
president.
Pavel remains politically active. On 30 December
2011 he was detained for an alleged disorderly conduct at the police
department to which he had been invited for a "prophylactic
talk". That's why he met the New Year in prison, serving a 7-day
arrest (though the court ruling on his case was issued only on 2
January 2013). He went on a hunger-strike of protest against the
unlawful detention and imprisonment.
