Navapolatsk human rights defenders hold action in support of Hrodna colleagues (photo)
The Navapolatsk activists held an action of
solidarity with the Hrodna human rights defenders Uladzimir
Khilmanovich, Viktar Sazonau and Raman Yurhel who had been fined for
posting to the web a photo of themselves with portraits of Ales
Bialiatski and brochures of the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights.
"We want to see the reaction of the Navapolatsk
police to our action", said the Navapolatsk activist Siarhei
Malashanok.
Bear in mind that on 5 January 2013 the Leninski
District Court of Hrodna punished the
Hrodna human rights defenders for a photo on the web, in which they
can be seen holding portraits of the imprisoned human rights defender
Ales Bialiatski and brochures of the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights. The reason for the trial were the
violation reports drawn up by the officers of the Leninski District
Police Department of Hrodna, who considered this media fact as a
violation of Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses,
"violation of the procedure of organizing or holding mass
events".
